Default 4.6 stroker kit, 5.0 or 5.1?

Anybody running the CHP 5.1 (310ci) stroker kit?

Since i can't afford forced induction right now, i'm going to just get my engine built and do FI later on down the road. I'll have about 6k to spend on building my motor. So what stroker should i go with and is it worth the money?

Also what kind of gains of Tq/hp can i expect out of a 302 stroker vs the 310 stroker. And is the factory compression ratio fine or should i raise it? If i raise it i'll buy different pistons when i put a blower on there which is not happening right now. completely got screwed over with not having enough money to do what i wanted, so i'm going to just build the engine with stage 2 or 3 patriot heads and hopefully a stroker if it fits into my budget.

Any ideas on what i should do?

i wud not go with the 5.1. stick with the 5l if u go stroked. and if u cant go fi yet go with either 9.5 to 1 compression or maybe 10. to 1 compression. then u can still run a centri blower if u choose to and it will still be badass on the street NA as well. centri blowers like the compression because they dont start makin boost until higher up in the rpm range anyway. And if u do get a motor done id stay away from dss. ive seen and heard a lot of probs with their motors. My MMR stroker is a monster and was a great price too.
Good luck man.

I'm just putting the finishing touches on my 302 kit. JDM didn't recommended the 298 over the 302 because they think it puts lots of extra side loading on the pistons. The 310 would obiously be worse in that regard.

exactly. the 310 wud be too much i think. and hella people run the stock bore with the stroked crank with great results, thts why i didnt hesitate to go for the extra cubes.

Don't listen to this guy. 10:1 compression is not what you want for a forced induction car unless you feel like running race fuel all the time.

9.5 to 1 to 10-1 is perfectly fine for a street driven Centri car, and if you noticed i said IF he could not go FI for a while he might want to keep it at around 9.5 to 1 so its not a freakin Pig. I dont kno what yur talkin about but i have a good friend who runs 10 to 1 with a vortech s trim and it runs on pump and makes good power. My car is at 9.5 to 1 and will have a t trim on it soon and will be badass. Centri cars do good with a little bit higher compression so that you dont end up with lag in the lower rpm range due to the fact that they dont go into boost until over 3000 rpm most times. the reason most people go low is because they are running turbos or twin screw blowers that need a little bit lower compression. BUT if it were an all out car or goin for over 18lbs or somethin YES 10.5 to 1 might be a little too high to run on pump gas .

I got the Saleen kit, and I got it from a guy who got it from a guy. The boxes were only opened for inspection and photos. This kit should be at or near stock compression as the piston dishes looked very similar.

Right on. Good luck. should make out to be a fun ass ride for ya. U cant go wrong with any Saleen or JDM stuff. they both make some awesome products! What i cant wait to see is how all of all of our cars hold up against the new 2011GT? I wonder how hard one of those suckers pulls stock? they are said to be really fast! Hopefully my little 2v will keep up! lol.
