Default Hello

Hi, names Steve. Just bought a 1968 Mustang 2 door hardtop 200ci 6cyl 3.3L 3spd. My wife bought it for me while i was in afghanistan and when i got home for r&r, i noticed a bunch of stuff wrong with it. First, the VIN they used on the title and registration, was not a VIN at all. It was some arizona control number found on the inside of the drivers doorframe on the rear quarter pannel (AZ-110190...can anyone help with this?). The vin plate is under the windshield but it looks like theres another plate under that, so theres no way of telling if that plate is the real vin. the car was repainted (crappy job btw). Lots of electrical issues. Most of the body is made from aftermarket restoration parts. aside from all that, the cars in pretty good shape

well it seems to look good in the pic. congrats on the new stang! not sure how the vin could get screwed up like that. In 68 the vin was in 3 places I believe. The dash, inner fender in the engine compartment, and driver door jam. Is the vin number in any of those three places? The inner fender is the only real place where the vin is actually stamped into the metal.

The DMV must have screwed up real bad if they put that number where the vin should be. I am not sure how they could even put that in there database as a number like that.

well i think all the fenders and quarter panels are aftermarket. Seems like the car was in a small wreck. the vin im pretty sure is on the dash. it matches all the ford codes for a vin. the actual vin is less than 17 characters so i guess it would be easy to mess up if someone wasnt paying attention. plus that arizona number is actually in the left door jam.
