Smile Just bought an '88 LX 5.0

Hello. I just bought my first Mustang, and I'm looking forward to many years of fun driving with it! It's a 1988 LX 5.0 convertible. I'm not so sure if I like the convertible part yet, 'cause I live in Utah, and it's not always that warm here. I got lucky (I think...) because it's a California emissions package, so its a mass-air car. It is certainly not in pristine condition, but I think it's a pretty good deal for what I paid. It's primered, and almost ready for paint, and ready for a replacement top.

It's got a set of shorty headers, a Flowmaster dual exhaust, and a K&N cone filter. Other than that, I think it's pretty stock. I'd love to hear what the next upgrade on my list should be.

It's good to know there are so many people out there that know more about this stuff than I do, and I hope to gain lots of good information from every visit I make to this site!

Welcome! Sounds like a solid car. I had an 87 gt a few years back. I would start by cleaning the car up if it needs anything. If any of the electricals don't work I would fix those. Maybe a tune up. Anything to make it a reliable good driver. Then I would look into an HCI (heads, cam, intake) package for performance. Maybe new wheels and a new paint job? This car might start becoming your money pit haha. That's what happened to me. Anyways congrats with the purchase and welcome to the site!

I'm not so sure it's worthy yet... It looks REALLY ugly with a ratty top, and a half primer paint job.

Speaking of tops, does anybody make a removable hard top to replace the convertible? That would be very cool... Plus, I have to buy a top anyways.
