Default Oil Changes

I am due for an oil change. Was wondering where people get their oil change done or if they do it themselves. I dont have all my tools with me where I am staying but may do it myself anyways. I have always used Mobil1 Synthetic. Lets here where people get their oil changed, price, and what kind??

I use the same kind and I do it myself. I'm not letting anyone do such a simple job on my car.

I just bought the Pennzoil Full Synthetic Platinum since it was on sale for like $4.50/qt. Seems pretty similar to the Mobil 1. Same original price of $7.99/qt. Also got the Mobil 1 oil filter for like $12.99. Ill be doing that tomorrow.

do it myself, i use the castrol syntech. and i have been told that on the newer cars you dont want to go any tighter on the oil filter than hand tight. at least thats how i have been doing it and never had a leak so far.
if you have had someone change your oil in a shop and the filter is to tight to get off by hand pop a screwdriver low in the side of the filter and you should be able to twist it off as a last resort if a filter wrench is not in your tools.

I bought a filter wrench but ended up not needing it. I always hand tighten the filters so I guess taking them off should be easy as well.

Do it myself and I'm thinking of keeping Mobil1 with FRPP Filter on the Shelby and using Castrol on the 5.0.. I'm seeing hand tight works well...

would make your job easier with a set of Race Ramps.. gives a lot of clearance.. my town picks up my used oil...

It's not supposed to be more than hand tight anyways. I use fram and it has the grip on the bottom edge so it's extremely easy to twist it on or off

I just changed the oil on my gf's altima coupe last night. It was a bitch to do since the oil filter was on too tight and I didn't have a filter wrench that size (those filters are tiny compared to the mustang V8). Ive heard of that screwdriver method and I tried it and it worked pretty well. A little messy but saved me a trip to Oreillys.

Anyone know the quality of that Oreilly brand full synthetic oil? They had a deal for like 5 quarts and a Mobil 1 filter for like $20.

now adays with the strick standerds i dont think theres that much of a difference between motor oils or the synthetic blends. i am sure the store brand is made by a name brand company just a different packaging. i think if i was told right napa store brand oil is valvoline but i could be wrong.

Thats what I thought too. I guess its like how the Kirkland brand vodka at costco is made by the same people who make gray goose vodka and its like half the price
