"The folks at Classic Recreations have been building and restoring classic Mustangs for years including the
Gone in 60 Seconds "Eleanor" Ford Mustang from the movie but those days might be over as they have come under investigation for VIN fraud. According to a local TV station, KOCO the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is alleging that Classic Recreations based in Yukon, OK just west of Oklahoma City has been pulling VIN numbers from older cars and attaching them to new chassis'. This practice is highly illegal in itself but the OSBI is also claiming Classic Recreations would then present these cars as the originals which amounts to fraud. These restored Mustangs are not cheap as they command prices in the $175K range. OSBI is taking this matter of VIN fraud very seriously as they were seen hauling away several restored and partially restored Mustangs on flatbed trucks although nobody has been charged or arrested yet."
