Default Light colored transmission fluid, wrong fluid?

I just had a rebuilt C4 put in my 65 mustang. I was having engine problems so I could not test the trans out 100%. I have the engine running pretty good now. The car does seem to be sluggish when I drive it though. And there is also a wining noise coming from what looks like the torque converter or somewhere right behind the engine. Anyone know what could be causing this? I checked the fluid and there seems to be the right amount of fluid but it looks very light in color to me. Do they make a trans type F fluid that is light rather than a darker red? And would the wrong fluid cause this?

I just changed the fluid anyways. I drained the tc too. The whine is still there although it did go away occasionally when the car was on and I was filling the trans with fluid so I definitely know its the tc or something in the trans. Anyone know what the deal is?

Ive been doing some research and it seems that a newly rebuilt trans with a tc that whines is because there is too much clearance between the tc and flexplate. Anyone know how to adjust this?

EDIT: I also found that if there is too little clearance it will whine also. I noticed that I do not have the spacer plate between the bellhousing and engine. Could that spacer cause the lack of clearance?
