Aluminum Flywheel?

What should I look for in an aluminum flywheel? What are other people using and what do they think about them? What are the good points and what are the bad points? How safe are they? How heavy is the stock flywheel? What does that do to horsepower?

Fidanza, nuff said. Much lighter than stock. Engine revs quicker, car accelerates quicker and the flywheel looks nicer too

Does it wear out faster? Do you lose torque? Could it break apart and kill me? Does it heat up if you use it hard?

No they don't wear out faster. They have a steel insert where the clutch rides. The good ones are rebuildable and have removeable weights so they fit any application. No you won't loose any torque, that is a myth. I wouldn't worry about a flywheel coming apart and killing you, its the clutch that will kill you. Any manual transmission car that is abused needs a steel safety bellhousing. Anyone that doesn't use a safety bellhousing might as well go play russian roulette. A Fidanza flywheel is SFI approved and is much stronger and more durable than a factory steel flywheel.
