Default Power Brake Booster - Upgrading my brakes

I have four drum brakes on my 66 Mustang. I am interested in putting the power brake booster on to make it a little easier to stop. I have searched most of the mustang sites, cjs, mustangsplus, restoremustangs, and mustangsunlimited, and they want at least $350 for the "kit".

I shopped napa and found a power brake booster for my car for 149.99 made by bendix. It looks exactly the same as those offered by the mustang shops. Anyone have any insight on what the differences may be? I want to do this upgrade, but I might have to wait if it means almost 400 bucks. Anybody already do this have any tips? Your help is appreciated.

Don't know on that. But I have a rebuilt powerbooster/master Cyl. That I bought for a 65 Ford Galaxie. Are they the same?? I can't remember the whole number that is stamped on it but it starts with C5AZ & most old mustang parts start with C5ZZ or C6ZZ ect. Let me know if you can use it. I'll make you a deal on it.

You might want to think about a different approach. Drum have there problems like pulling left of right. Or just poor stopping power like what you are talking about.

The Fix for your problems is going to disc brakes, yes I know Price. I found this place were you can buy every thing you need to swap over for 6 or 8 Cyl for only $525

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I would rather keep my 4 lug, because I already have 4 lug wheels, and I do not plan on upgrading the rear end. I did not see it on the website, but do they offer a 4 lug conversion to discs?

Be careful when getting a booster kit. I believe there are different ones for disks vs. drums. I looked into it a few years back when I first got my stang. But I can't remember if it was the booster or the master cylinder that needs to be disks only, drums only, or disks (front) and drums (rear). But I do remember that 1 of those 2 components makes all the diff. But I'm sure one of the go to guys will correct me on this. But either way something to think about when you upgrade.

I was looking into that same kit myself at discbrakeswap.com. I noticed there was a massive price difference between that one and a similar one at SSBC, does anyone know what that difference is?

I had read something about the number of calipers in the pistons. If so does that make a big difference?
