Default So do u really gain hp from a throttle body?

Im looking to do something to my car.. I wanna change uo the exhaust but that can wait. I am looking at something to do and seen throttle body. It said gains of 10-15hp. I was wondering if u gain anything if at all with them? I would love to get gears but I don't know anyone to install them :[

u may be better off doing a port job on the stock one. That was a 3hp gain or so

there's no real gains from changing the throttle body, unless your pushing crazy boost.

Stock throttle body is good for 500+ RWHP

I have the BBK Twin 62mm installed on my 06 GT with C&L Racer Intake..... It's hard to say if I noticed a change or not but I do love the cool sound it makes haha

I believe the MOST dyno proven gains I have read about are 6rwhp.
NOT worth it. My BBK was a complete pain in the ass.
I tuned it and everything just like I was supposed to as well.

I have a ported/polished stocker sitting here that felt the same as my BBK did.

Make sure you get a good TB if you do. There are some crappy TBs out there that mess up the DBW settings and are hard to tune. I typically say a TB is a waste of $$ unless you are adding boost. A quick way to find out is to hook up a vacuum gauge and see if you hit 0-2" at WOT. If you have more vacuum than that, then something is restrictive. It could be the air filter, intake, or TB.

Not sure about those #'s however any increase in airflow will increase power potential. The #'s you will get from it will also be more pending on what other mods that demand more air flow you get in the future (turbo or SC)

from what i read in the mags a gt500 t/b will fit on a 3v motor.. i was thinkin of it myself but upon research its really not worth it under 500hp... i like that idea about port/polishing the stocker tho....

I think its been well established that an aftermarket TB is only worth it in supercharger applications above 10psi or all out N/A setups with aftermarket cams, ported heads, etc.

With the right setup there can be huge gains from an aftermarket TB. I picked up +92 hp when I switched only because the stock TB was literally choking the engine in the higher rpm ranges.
