Dropping Weight off S-197's
I am curious how much weight is feasible to drop from the S-197 chassis fairly easilly. Simple things that come to mind:
Forged Wheels (variously quoted as 5 to 8 lbs per wheel) (32)
Tubular K-member (variously quoted as 28-43lbs) (40)
Alu or Carbon Drive shaft (30-40 LBS) (31)
Front Seats (?? weight) (20?)
Smaller battery (?? weight) (5?)
Not interested in scraping sound deadening.
Are there Carbon or Glass replacement fenders yet??? (50?)
Best case that's still less than 200 LBS - which makes for say 3350 lbs BEFORE adding a\n S/C and it's intercooler and heat exhanger, etc.....
HELPPPPP!!!!
It would be nice to drop down to LS-7 wet weight and play with similar HP numbers (Supercharged).
IOW I'd LOVE to be around 3.2k wet, with a whipple Gen 2.
Anyone gone down this road - have suggestions?
Help appreciated..

Cut the reinforcement bars out of each door, that'll save a couple hundred at least. Same with the bumpers

Roush has the carbon-fiber body panels, but make sure you're sitting down and have a stiff drink handy before you ask about the price...
I think you're way light on the front seat replacements... Delete both fronts and add a race seat for the driver and it's probably good for 80lbs. At a guess, completely gutting the interior will be good for another 75lbs, and you can probably pull another 50 or so out of the car by dumping the heater core, AC system, stereo gear, front swaybar, and going to a small fuel cell in place of the factory tank. That would put your estimated weight right at your target of 3200lbs, but you'd have a pretty much drag-dedicated car, with no creature comforts at all. If that's what you're looking for, then cool, you have a target and a reasonable chance of hitting it.

Lets say we're looking to maintain streetabillity and creature comforts. How much weight would be feasible to pull off - realistically. Not interested in de-smogging - live in CA. Can't live w/o A/C - Live in L.A.
Has anyone brought one of these below 3400 lbs with a supercharger and maintained most of the creature comforts?
Removing door and bumper supports sounds appealing - though less than safe - considering the passenger door brace has already been exercised on mine..
K-member - Drive shaft - light seats - remove spare etc (already gone) - light wheels - sounds like the only practical approach?
Any chance anyone will do glass fenders for less than Roush's carbon?

Aftermarket LCAs, UCA and Panhard bar are all going to be lighter than stock.

I think that CF is the only real way you're going to drop weight in the body panels. If the Steeda Race cowl hood is any lighter than the aluminum stock piece, it's only by a few pounds, not that much. The fascias are all cosmetic, and essentially a wash when it comes to weight. The body panels, like fenders, or door skins are already pretty lightweight, and I would guess that any fiberglas replacement would wind up being heavier. If it's a street-driven car, then I would pass (big-time!) on gutting the door bars, replacing, deleting, or cutting down the bumper bars, or any surgery in the crumple-zone pieces. It's just not worth it. Really, that leaves the creature comforts.
A total list (or at least the start of one) would probably look like this:
Steeda race cowl hood
tubular K-member
Tubular radiator support
Front swaybar delete
Tubular front A-arms
Billet LCAs (or tubular, whichever is lighter)
Tubular UCA
Fiberglas or CF race seats
Forged lightweight wheels, smaller rubber.
Rear spoiler delete
Aluminum or CF 1-piece driveshaft
Aluminum flywheel
Delete rear axle weights
Rear seat delete (use thin aluminum sheet for the bulkhead)
Audio delete (head unit, amps, speakers)
Heater core delete (You live in LA)
Anybody think of anything else? Too much further, and you might as well gut the interior completely, throw in a cage and be done with it...

they are located towards the end of the axle beside the lca bracket. Mine had to be removed to fit my lca relocation brackets.
