Default 86 notch questions

any updates???

I believe 5.0 was the name they started giving the 302s in the 80s when they moved back to the 302 block. I think 87 was the first year they had EFI on the mustang and I am sure your block originally had EFI on it if it was originally an 87 mustang block. If you dont have any of the EFI stuff it might be a pain to put it back. I would stick with the carb for now.

what i have found is that in late 86 EFI was introduced. it carried over to 87 as standered fuel delivery. alot of these were converted bask to carb systems in a attempt to increase performance. i have a edelbrock performer 2 intake and a demon carb that should work great. i just aswered an add for someone to do bodywork. and ended up with a barter agreement to use the guys shop. helping him and getting somemelp with my engine swap plus cash or my choice of parts from his import salvage yard. he's more inclined to the latter. anyone have parts requests?

You already have the auto? The 5 speed might just be a "bolt on". I am thinking the 5 speed will be more fun.

yes i have a C4 auto with a stall, that came with my 302
and the notch is a 4cyl, 2.3 with a 4 speed
my thought is to convert to a 5 speed
what is a good C4 trans going for asking price figured i would sell it and buy the 5 speed from my buddie.
i also found a turbo off a thunder chicken i could get for this 2.3

not a bad idea.

Not sure how much the C4 is worth. They seem to be pretty common. I bought a rebuilt one about a year ago for $500.

A turboed 2.3L would be pretty cool. Look up the SVO mustangs.
